The Coral Springs Church of God was founded on November 17, 1996 by the late
Bishop Joel E. Walters and wife Rev. Cynthia F. Walters. The first service was held in the living room of their home with ten other people. After a few services, the potential of the new work was very evident and a room at the LaQuinta Hotel was rented for worship services.
On January 12th 1997, the church was officially organized by then State Administrative Bishop, Quan L. Miller, and remained at the LaQuinta hotel for just over one year before moving to 10250 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, FL .
Bishop Joel and Mrs. Walters were blessed with sons that caught their vision and became a tremendous help and support to the new found ministry. His firstborn Joel Anthony was the bus driver, sound engineer and the person who could be relied on to do whatever was necessary. His second son Oral was the first musician, praise and worship leader and Sunday school teacher. His grandchildren Oral, Marc Antoine and Brandon along with Georgette Fisher (the daughter of one of the founding members, she was also the first praise dancer) made up the youth department. His grandson Oral was the first drummer (he is still the current drummer) and MarcAntoine the first male soloist.
The late Bishop Walters was a true shepherd, and God blessed him. He lead with dignity and integrity, humility and a calm demeanor was his trademark. His careful walk with God was noted, and he was a living example and proof that we can live Holy. He lived what he preached, and under his leadership the church grew and was strengthened.
On May 30, 2004 Bishop Joel E. Walters went home to be with the Lord, leaving behind a church built on a strong foundation; He was succeeded in ministry by his second son, Oral St. P. Walters.
In April 1, 2012 Coral Springs Church of God name was officially changed to Living Word Christian Center International Ministries, currently located at 7493 West Sample Road, Coral Springs, FL 33065. Pastors Oral & Sandra Walters are co laborers in the ministry, together they are committed to winning the lost by preaching and teaching unadulterated word of God, so that all may see the WORD, hear WORD and be converted by the WORD.
